Country Lantern

Equipment

  • 1 1 1/2" Ribbon needs to coordinate with the bow
  • 2 2 1/2" Ribbons

Instructions

Creating Bow

  • using Row C, Fingers 1-5 of bow maker
  • Cut two 24 inch lengths of floral wire.
  • Fold one wire in half
  • Choose three ribbons. One is 1 ½ inch and two are 2 ½ inches.
  • Create a 10 inch tail with first ribbon, pinch and secure with floral wire.
  • Secure to bow maker center post.
  • Loop ribbon around first peg, pinch, twist, and loop over second peg.
  • Attach second length of wire to center.
  • Cut ribbon leaving a 10 inch tail.
  • Trim both tails of first ribbon into a dovetail.
  • Using second ribbon, measure 10 inch tail.
  • Press to bow base and create first loop, pinch, and twist.
  • Create second loop and continue for a total of 4 loops on same two pegs to create same-sized loops.
  • Secure second ribbon to floral wire and cut a 10-inch tail, dovetailing both ends of the ribbon.
  • With third, repeat same process as second ribbon, creating 4 loops on pegs next to second ribbon.
  • Secure third layer with floral wire and remove bow.
  • Adjust ribbon with all tails going down and loops separated.

Creating Arrangement for Lantern Base:

  • Using floral base stem and cotton stems, work cotton into floral stem
  • Next, use additional greenery stem to trim down and place in front of cotton.
  • Take a large sunflower bundle and place on the back of bundle, and adjust sunflowers through cotton and greenery.
  • Secure base of stems with a zip tie.
  • Trim all stems approximately 2 ½ inches from zip tie.
  • Use same process to create second matching bundle, making it slightly larger to accommodate bow tails.
  • Stack two bundles with stems facing each other and secure together to create a swag with two zip ties
  • Secure bow to center with tails down towards second bundle.
  • Adjust bow and stems.

Attach to Lantern:

  • Use another zip tie to run through the zip tie in the base of the arrangement.
  • Place zip tie through the ring at the top of lantern and attach.
  • Adjust to desired position and secure with additional zip ties if needed.
  • Trim and ribbon tails that are too long.
  • Trim zip ties.
  • Hot glue greenery to the back to cover and exposed zip ties.
