Expand Your Creativity: Fake Bake Cake

Equipment

  • Disposable piping bag
  • #32 Open start frosting tip
  • Frosting knife
  • Paper plates
  • Plastic spoon/ knife
  • Lazy Suzan
  • Parchment/ wax paper

Materials

  • 8 ” Foam cake or cake dummies.
  • 10 ” Cake plate or cardboard cake round
  • Lightweight spackling
  • Acrylic paint
  • Embellishments of choice

Instructions

Making your fake cake frosting:

  • Scoop out all the spackle onto a non-absorbent paper plate.
  • Mix one of your acrylic colors into the spackle. (Use a shade darker than your desired result because the white spackle will lighten the paint color.)
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • For decorative frosting, use 4 heaping spoonfuls of lightweight spackling and mix with your other acrylic paint colors.
  • Add each color frosting into piping bags.

Frost your fake bake cake:

  • Put your Styrofoam cake form on wax paper, on top of a lazy Suzan to make the work easier.
  • Spread your fake frosting even around the cake form.
  • Use a frosting knife to clean up the sides of the cake.

Decorate your fake cake

  • Use your piping bags filled with colored frosting to decorate.
  • Add your embellishments
