Funeral Urn

Simple floral funeral urn tutorial .

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Xacto Knife
  • Stem cutter
  • Pick machine
  • Hot pot

Materials

  • 1 dozen roses
  • 2-3 bushes smaller multi-bloom stems
  • 2-3 blooms lily stems
  • various greenery bushes
  • 1 bi-fold foam board
  • 1 piece 14" Styrofoam ring
  • 1 pack floral pins
  • 1-2 bags moss or grass covering
  • glue sticks for hot pot

Instructions

Prep foam base

  • Slice your "O" ring in half, creating to "C" shapes
  • Trace out foam form on the bi-fold foam board
  • Cut out tracing on bi-fold foam board using an xacto knife
  • Glue the foam board cut outs to the bottom of the cut foam ring to create a base
  • Cut out strips of grass or use moss to cover the foam base. Pin in place with floral pins.

Adding flowers

  • Layout the two "C" shape foam boards to create an "S" shape
  • Determine the height of you floral design using a greenery or floral stem in the glass vase
  • Using the stem cutter, trim down rose stems to blend with the height of the guide stems you're using from the previous step.
  • Dip the rose stems in hot glue and insert into the foam board behind the vase, to create a backdrop
  • Create shorter layers of roses as you move outward from the urn
  • Use stems with multiple blooms to incorporate in between the roses.
  • Continue to add roses throughout the base creating a waterfall effect, creating lower tiers as you move outward from the urn.
  • You can incorporate various blooms and greenery to fill in the foam base.
  • Add more depth to the background of the urn by creating smaller bouquets of flowers and greenery.
