Greenery Only Garden Container Arrangement

Equipment

  • Wire Cutters
  • Scissors

Materials

Planter Base:

  • Gold planter from Winners or similar
  • Styrofoam cut to fit tightly
  • Garbage bags to fill any gaps
  • Decorative rocks to cover foam and weigh it down

Greenery Stems (all from DecoExchange):

  • 1 Coleus Spray MTF24457
  • 1 Caladium Plant MTF24456
  • 1 Ivy Garland 80091-LT.GN
  • 1 Boston Fern Spray MTF22756
  • 1 Fern Bush BG10303GR

Instructions

Prep the Base

  • Place your Styrofoam snugly into the container. Use garbage bags or packing material to fill the sides and make it tight.
  • Drop in a layer of decorative rocks to help weigh it down and hide the mechanics.

Add Your Thriller (Tallest Greenery)

  • Start with the Coleus Spray in the center. This is your tallest piece, and it gives the whole arrangement height.
  • Fluff and bend the leaves so they fan out naturally.

Add Your Fillers

  • Surround the Coleus with your Boston Fern and Fern Bush.
  • Insert them at various angles to add fullness around the middle and base of the Coleus.
  • Stagger the fern placements so it doesn’t look too “even.” You want it to feel organic.

Add Your Focal Leaf (Caladium)

  • Add the Caladium Plant close to the front and sides. These large leaves help “anchor” the base visually and soften the hard edges of the container.
  • Let a couple hang slightly over the edge.

Finish with Your Spiller

  • Drape your Ivy over the front and side. Secure it into the foam but allow it to cascade naturally.
  • Tuck any long vines in where needed, giving it a relaxed, flowing look.

Notes

Don’t glue the foam if you want to reuse the container later!
Use two shorter pieces of ivy instead of one long one if you want more control over the shape.
