How to add mesh to a pine swag

Prep your base

• Start with an evergreen teardrop swag.
• Fluff out your pine needles.
• Take 4 types/colors of 10” mesh and cut 4 x 24” or 26” pieces of each.
• Take the mesh pieces and make cruffles by curling the ends and pinching the middle together.
• Add the cruffle to the swag, alternating types/colors as you go using the pine needles to secure them.

Add in your ribbon tails

• Take a 2.5” or 4” ribbon and cut a few pieces to make ribbon tails (one side short and one side long on each).
• Add the ribbon tails to the top and bottom ends of the swag using the pine needles.
• Dovetail the ends.

How to add a wooden sign to a pine swag

Add your sign

• Take your 10” round sign (usually not bigger than 10”) and cut 2 pieces of scrap ribbon to add to the back of the sign (preventing the staples from going through the wood).
• Take 2 x 20” pipe cleaners and staple them to the back of the sign using the ribbon in between.
• Add the sign to the top of the swag using the pipe cleaners.
• Trim and secure the pipe cleaners from the back of the swag.

How to add a wooden sign to a mesh wreath

Add your sign

• Take your square sign and cut 3 pieces of scrap ribbon to add to the back of the sign (preventing the staples from going through the wood).
• Take 2 x pipe cleaners and staple them to the back of the sign using the ribbon in between.
• Add the sign to the top left of the wreath using the pipe cleaners attaching it to the wreath’s frame.
• Wrap the excess of the pipe cleaners around the frame of the wreath.

How to add gems to your designs

Add your gems

• Take your 8” rectangle gem and add a pipe cleaner to the top of the gem.
• Add a mounting square to the back of the gem using glue and add a pipe cleaner to the mounting square.
• Add your gem to the center of the swag using the pipe cleaner.
• Take your 6 x 6 square gem and add a pipe cleaner to the top of the gem.
• Add a mounting square to the back of the gem using glue and add a pipe cleaner to the mounting square.
• Add your square gem to the top of the swag using the pipe cleaner.
