Hydrangea Welcome Wreath

Instructions

Prepping Your Grapevine

  • Grab your 18” circular shape grapevine.
  • Clean it up by shaking out any excess debris in there. Trim if necessary.

Prepping Your Sign

  • Be sure to remove the pre attached strings to your sign.
  • Using cable tie adhesive mounts and pipe cleaners, you will attach to the back of your sign on outer sides horizontally. You will do this on both sides of your sign. Twist to secure to help you attach easily to your rail.
  • Set aside.

Adding Your Greenery

  • Grab your fern greenery and cut off ends with stem cutter. This gives you a bunch of ferns to work with. We will create a base of greenery starting at top center, waterfalling down both sides as we place (clockwise and counterclockwise).
  • Bend the stem of your fern in the direction of your grapevine to help with security. Dip in hot glue and place, allowing it to drape down your side of the grapevine.
  • Fluff as you go along making it a nice and full base.
  • Grab other greenery bushes to weave throughout. Trim from main stem, allowing for multiple bundles to be created. Attach using hot glue and bend in stem, filling in bald spots as you go. This wreath should be lush and full.
  • Work them all throughout, pushing towards the outsides of wreath, placing a curve to keep your cascading look.
  • Place one sticking right up out of the top… it will look funny to begin with, but have faith.

Adding Your Sign

  • Eyeball where to add the sign to your grapevine, sitting in the middle.
  • Using your pipe cleaners, you will attach your welcome sign to the sides of your grapevine twisting tight to secure in place.
  • The sign should tuck into your greenery so it cascades down around it. You will have an open bottom to add more accents as we go.

Adding Your Florals

  • Grab your large red summer hydrangeas flowers to add all around your grapevine. Use stem cutter to get the length of stems you need. Lots of hot glue on tip and add to the front and center of your grapevine up top.
  • Add more hydrangeas, working it in securely, throughout your greenery on your grapevine, giving that pop of color that ties into your sign. The top ¾ of your grapevine should be nice and full, leaving some empty space on bottom to continue working with.

Adding Your Bows

  • Eyeball where you will add bow down under your sign.
  • Grab your 4” red ribbon to create your bow with long tails. With ribbon, squish together, loop from back to front, squish again, twist, and make another loop from back to front, being sure your loops are the same length and tails face the front. 2 loops on this layer of bow.
  • Come over the top with your 1 ½ ” turquoise gingham ribbon, remembering to leave really long tails pinching at center, and repeating the steps above to make your next layer of bow. Your tails will be about 3-4 inches longer than the first 2 layers. You will have 2 smaller accent loops when complete.
  • Grab your zip tie, since it is so thick and stiff, to secure in the center to hold your handmade bow together. Pull nice and tight. Trim excess.
  • Grab another zip tie to slide through your grapevine, creating an “Open hand” to catch your bow as you place it on your grapevine. Rest it right inside and zip tie together tight. Trim excess zip tie.
  • Fluff, adjust, and trim your tails to your liking. Work your wire and curl them to add the fancy.

Adding Accents

  • Grab your turquoise florals that match with your sign, filling in bald spots. Use hot glue and stems to work into your grapevine.
  • Work them where you see fit.
  • Grab greenery and add peeking out of your bow. This ties it all together.
  • Next add some white wisteria florals. These will balance out all those vibrant colors. Embrace the cascading down look as you insert them.
  • Add some dancing turquoise sprays peeking out using hot glue to connect.
  • Grab your polka dot ribbon to make some fun tails on the outer edge of grapevine. Cut your ribbons about 15-20 inches long, gather at center with pipe cleaner and use that to twist tightly into grapevine. You can use a zip tie to connect if needed. Dovetail ribbons. This will break up all the floral.
