Equipment

  • Bowdabra or EZ Bow Maker
  • Scissors
  • Cutting mat/ measuring tape

Materials

  • 1- 4 ” wired ribbon
  • 4- 2.5 ” wired ribbon
  • 1- 1.5 ” wired ribbon
  • Pipe cleaners

Instructions

  • With the 4” ribbon, lay ribbon flat and measure 12” and pinch.
  • With the non-dominant hand, hold the ribbon at the pinched part
  • Then measure 16” and pinch the ribbon again and put them together.
  • This is to make an 8” loop.
  • Then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is facing up, measure 16” again, pinch and put them together.
  • You’re always going to bring the ribbon under having the non pattern side face each other.
  • Then twist the ribbon, and make one more loop and then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is up.
  • You should have 2 loops on one side and 1 loop on the other side.
  • Fluff and cut ends into dovetails.
  • With the Bowdabra or EZ Bow Maker, you can use it to hold each layer of the bow.
  • With the 2.5” ribbon, measure the tail at 11” and pinch.
  • With the non-dominant hand, hold the ribbon at the pinched part
  • Then measure 15” and pinch the ribbon again and put them together.
  • This is to make a 7.5” loop.
  • Then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is facing up, measure 15” again, pinch and put them together.
  • You’re always going to bring the ribbon under having the non pattern side face each other.
  • Then twist the ribbon, and make one more loop and then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is up.
  • You should have 2 loops on one side and 1 loop on the other side.
  • Fluff and cut ends into dovetails.
  • Add this layer into the Bowdabra
  • Make sure the 2-loop side is facing away from each other and alternating with the previous layer.
  • With the 2.5” ribbon, measure the tail at 10” and pinch.
  • With the non-dominant hand, hold the ribbon at the pinched part
  • Then measure 14” and pinch the ribbon again and put them together.
  • This is to make a 7” loop.
  • Then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is facing up, measure 14” again, pinch and put them together.
  • You’re always going to bring the ribbon under having the non pattern side face each other.
  • Then twist the ribbon, and make one more loop and then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is up.
  • You should have 2 loops on one side and 1 loop on the other side.

  • Add this layer into the Bowdabra

  • With the non-dominant hand, hold the ribbon at the pinched part
  • Then measure 13” and pinch the ribbon again and put them together.
  • This is to make a 6.5 loop.
  • Then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is facing up, measure 13” again, pinch and put them together.
  • You’re always going to bring the ribbon under having the non pattern side face each other.
  • Then twist the ribbon, and make one more loop and then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is up.
  • You should have 2 loops on one side and 1 loop on the other side.
  • Fluff and cut ends into dovetails.
  • Add this layer into the Bowdabra
  • Make sure the 2-loop side is facing away from each other and alternating with the previous layer.
  • With the 1.5” ribbon, measure the tail at 8” and pinch.
  • With the non-dominant hand, hold the ribbon at the pinched part
  • Then measure 12” and pinch the ribbon again and put them together.
  • This is to make a 6” loop.
  • Then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is facing up, measure 12” again, pinch and put them together.
  • You’re always going to bring the ribbon under having the non pattern side face each other.
  • Then twist the ribbon, and make one more loop and then twist the ribbon so the pattern side is up.
  • You should have 2 loops on one side and 1 loop on the other side.
  • Fluff and cut ends into dovetails.
  • Add this layer into the Bowdabra
  • Make sure the 2-loop side is facing away from each other and alternating with the previous layer.
  • Take 2 pipe cleaners and twist them together, then wrap around the center of the bow.
  • Put the pipe cleaner in between the pointer and middle finger that is holding the bow, grab the pipe cleaner, and pull.
  • Start twisting the bow until it is nice and tight.
  • Pull tails toward the middle and fluff the entire bow.
