Patriotic Mesh Poof

Instructions

  • Prepare the wreath base.
  • Take your mesh measuring about 10 inches and fold it over making a poof.  Insert the poof into the pencil tie of the wreath base (mesh to metal) twisting it tight to secure the mesh into place. You will measure out 10 inches for the inner top ring of the wreath base. Continue to go counterclockwise around the base.  Make sure that all the poofs are the same size.
  • Next go to the outer ring and you will measure out 12 inches and fold it over to make a poof.  You want the outside ring to be bigger.  Complete this process around the outside of the wreath until completely covered.
  • Take the second mesh that will accent the red mesh.  You will make poofs and place the poofs right behind the red poofs layering the mesh. Do this to the inner ring only.
  • Take your red and white stripe mesh and cut 18 ties at 19 inches a piece.
  • Fold one side of the mesh down and begin to pull the mesh toward you scrunching it up into a ruffle. Use the stripes as your guide. Take the mesh and insert into the pencil ties untwisting the pencil tie and putting mesh to the metal and retwisting the pencil tie. The seems should be facing down and the curls will be downward. Complete around the inner upper ring.
  • Complete the same steps for the outer ring of the base.
  • Take the base and squish it into an oval. Flip the base over so that you are looking at the back.
  • Make a train with your zip ties, about 10 of them, and zip tie the outer rings together so that the oval base does not lose its shape.  Make sure it is tight.
  • Next make your bow and attach it to the lower left corner of the wreath base. Trim your bow tails.  The shorter tails should be at the top of the wreath. Fluff the bow.
  • Add a u-pin to the ice cream cone and hot glue. Let completely dry.
  • Attach the sign using wire. Punch holes into the sign and this is where you will attach the wire. Then attach your sign to the wreath base making the sign secure.  Try not to squish the mesh down.
  • Taking your ice cream cone, take a pipe cleaner and go through the u-pin in the back.  Attach to the wreath base across from the sign. and hot glue into place.
  • Take a ribbon and make it roller coaster around the sign on the outer loop of the base. Do the same with the ribbon on the opposite side.
  • Make a funky bow to accent the roller coaster on both sides.
  • Cut tails of the 2 ½ inch ribbon and place only in a few places.
  • Take a thinner ribbon and make a clover bow.  Place this only in a few places to complete the accenting on the design. With red ribbon attach red tails to break up the blue in the wreath.
  • Add a little bit of florals by adding a little bit eucalyptus.  Cut the bush into stems and cut around four inches from the bottom.
  • Begin to concentrate on the upper portion of the wreath.  Next take 60919 and separate it into three parts. Glue the end of the stem and place it right in between the layers of the mesh rings right beside the sign.  You want to make sure that the wire ring base is covered. Also glue a stem by the bow.
  • Next, begin to add the eucalyptus around the wreath design covering any missing holes.
  • Take your red leaf stem and trim.  Insert it behind the sign, at the top and near the ice cream cone.  It will help make it pop.
  • Insert the larger pick by placing them in the middle of the wreath to help hide the zip ties on the back of the wreath. Ensure that you are cutting the stems shorter for easier placement.
  • Add your star picks on the opposite side of the wreath. To help further break up the blue, add the white curly q’s.  go into the wreath diagonal to each other.
  • Add another star stem, separate the pieces, and insert to help make your design pop.
  • Add and insert the berries.
  • Add in some suckers to help tie some of that fun whimsy look.
  • If you feel that you have spots in your design continue to add more picks.
