Ribbon Rails Part 1

Instructions

Preparing Your Workspace

  • Lay down a trash bag, newspaper, puppy pad, or something to keep your workspace from getting destroyed from paint splatter.

Prepping and Painting Your Rail

  • Brush your rail with a dry brush to remove any excess dust, hair, etc.
  • Decide your paint color, American Persian Blue, and a wide paintbrush to cover the base of the rail. Not a fancy paint, but a rough coverage. 1 Coat works if you want, sand the edges, and give a glaze to get a primitive look. Or for a more polished look, you will use 2-3 coats for coverage. Let it dry for a few minutes.
  • To cover your letters on the rail, use a flat brush. I am using Primary Red, added to your paper plate. Cover your letters completely, remembering to get on the edges, inside and outside too. You can do just 1 coat of red if you prefer.
  • Set aside to dry.
  • You can over your blue coat 1 more time, by carefully turning your rail. Set aside to dry.
  • Touch up the red with one more coat. Be sure to be completely dry before moving to the next step, about 24 hours.
