Start with a 32” swag or a regular tear drop swag and fluff the branches.
Use the drop and roll method with 10” gold mesh and start by makings some large poufs. Find the top of the swag, where the hanger is located, and add your first pouf securing with pine tines. Each pouf will be 8-12” big. Continue adding poufs along the side. At the end of the swag, add an extra large pouf before continuing on down the other side. Once you reach the top again, continue adding poufs down the center of the swag. Trim your mesh as close to the swagas possible at the end.
With your 10” mesh roll, start with a fresh edge and cut 17”-19” lengths for ruffles. Cut 5-7 pieces total. Gather the center of each piece to make a ruffle and add into your swag, securing with pine tines. Add all 5-7 ruffles to add texture to your piece. Fill in any necessary holes with extra mesh ruffles.
Make a large bow with a variety of St. Patrick’s Day ribbons. Start using the wide glitter green ribbon with a long tail, pinch and add 2 12” loops. Layer with the 1 ½” green gingham ribbon matching the loop and tail lengths, making 4 loops total. Next, make 2 large loops and tails with the green swiss dot. Continue layering with the lime green making 4 loops and long tails. Add 2 more loops and tails of the St. Patrick’s plaid ribbon and finish it off 4 loops and 2 tails of the shamrock ribbon. Secure the center with a zip tie, fishing one through the back before cinching tight, for attaching to the swag.
Insert the bow in the center of the swag securing with your zip tie between the ruffles. Use extra zip ties if necessary. Adjust loops and ribbon tails where you like them and incorporate tails throughout your swag. Curl the 1 ½” ribbon tails with your fingers. Dovetail any ribbon tails that may be exposed.
Using a wooden skewer, poke a hole in the bottom of your foam shamrocks. Add hot glue into the hole then insert the skewer and let it set.
Cut 18” lengths from the green swiss dot and dovetail the ends. Secure the center of the ribbon tail into the base and adjust so they are facing out. Alternate adding ribbon tails with your swiss dot and shamrock ribbons.
Separate a leafy green bush and hot glue greenery stems throughout your swag. Add a few green carnations throughout your swag with hot glue.
Embellish your piece by hot gluing a few green and white striped craft picks, and a green ornament ball pick.
Find a spot on the top left of the swag and insert your foam shamrock pick. Add some hot glue at the base to secure. Add a second foam shamrock pick coming out from the bottom of the swag. Use hot glue to stabilize.
Trim any excess green pine tines showing from the swag. Add a few more ribbon tails by layering each length of ribbon and tie it off in the center with a pipe cleaner. Insert into the bottom of your swag, securing into the base. Trim each tail at an angle. Roll the ends up with your fingers.
Hot glue wood skewers onto the back of a craft shamrock and add into your swag.
Finish it off with any gold or green craft picks you have around to personalize your piece!
