Vintage Halloween Oval Wreath

Instructions

  • Prep Base
  • Fluff wreath base out
  • Using 21” mesh, make a 3” fan, starting on top rail, open ties and place mesh to the metal, twist tie once
  • On inside ring, make 10” loops into every twist tie
  • On the outside ring, make 12” loops into every twist tie
  • Fluff your poufs/loops as you go
  • Use the remainder of the mesh to make 4-6” loops do a third row of poufs in between the poufs on top ring
  • Cut off and tuck the end in
  • Take the wreath frame and squish down into an oval shape
  • Using the 10” mesh cut 20 inch strips x9 times
  • Fold edge under and ruffle up the center
  • Untie the twist tie and place ruffle in every other pouf, twist back a couple times
  • Make 2 tails, using 15” strips of 4” ribbon, fold in half and dovetail
  • Add the mounting squares to back of sign with hot glue and attach to the wreath near the top of the base
  • Add the cat attachment with twist ties near the bottom of base, hot glue in place if needed
  • Make The Tails and Bows
  • Make funky tails by using 2-½” ribbon, cut at 22 or 23” strips
  • Fold in half, fold the ends, dovetail, pinch about 5” down, fluff it, kick the leg out, twist the back leg around
  • Add funky tails in the twist tie, with tails facing out
  • Make clover bows (4 loops) with 7” loops; put in between the funky tails in a couple of spots, dovetail ends
  • Remove the tail from under the cat attachment
  • With another 4” ribbon make a loop and add in twist tie under the cat attachment
  • Make ribbon rail loops all around the bottom edge, just above the mesh (take the ruffles out briefly to add the loops, add ruffles back in)
  • Go around the entire base
  • Make another bow with 4” ribbon, make 1 long tail, pinch, twist, 1 loop, pinch, twist 1 loop, and cut 1 short tail (go up)
  • Repeat with 1-½: ribbon; the loops should be smaller than first layer
  • Repeat with next 1-½”  ribbon; the loops should be a little smaller than the 2nd layer
  • Repeat with 2-½” ribbon; the loops should be a little smaller than the previous layer
  • With the ⅞” ribbon make a clover bow (4 loops)
  • Attach layers with a pipe cleaner
  • Attach bow to wreath base, fluff loops and dovetail
  • Make sure all long streamers going down and under the bow
  • Adding The Finishing Touches
  • Trim the florals, sprays, and ornament picks off the stems
  • Determine where you want the pieces to go before hot gluing them in
  • Add the curl picks under the bow, in the pine tine (evergreen tie)
  • Add one of the ornament in the middle of the bow
  • Add pieces of the floral sprays, glue and tie into the pine tines throughout the base
  • Add the ball ornament pieces, alternating the colors and sizes throughout the base in every other tie
  • Place the extra curl picks and additional ball ornaments around the base to fill in empty spaces
